☮= Your inspiration.
IDK SO MANY THINGS… cute stories I can make in my head and make reality afterwards, colors, history and fashion and crappy reality mtv shows, and colorful music videos and noisy music, graffiti and !! Movies and music help so much to set a mood to your stuff? This sounds a tad weird to explain but I get most of my inspiration from moods and feelings, that may or not have a visual source. I’m so saturated with still images everyday that that simple fact will inspire me if I’m open to it too; and a song I listened to or a movie I walked out from may have an equal tremendous impact.
So all in all anything that gets you pumped up and like your eyes are in love with an idea slash image. I tend to think I’m selective, but in reality I’m actually really aware of my visual-inspiring surroundings. I mean a good series inspires me! Food inspires me! lol
I also really, really like folklore and traditional tales. I used to have a lot of mythology books growing up but nowadays I care more about fairytales and word to mouth stories.
I like my art like I like my ads: subversive, hence why I like kitschy crap s o m u c h. And urban art. OFC I also have a lot of artists that inspire me one way or another (from internet folks to established artists, dead or not). I take a lot of inspiration from catholic imagery and the cottoncandy atmosphere of french rococo; the idea of romanticism is very appealing to me even though I like to think I’m not that~~dark and mysterious~~.
TBH I guess Pixiv has been really great to look at different styles emerging right now, especially comic wise, as has been tumblr (for image-inspiration reasons, this site is one big image bank).
TL;DR: mooovies, colorful stuff, gay teens, comics about gay teens, urban pukes, cheesy horror, the beatles, zombies, candy, subversive shit, the idea that someday I’ll be able to create art that inspires others as well (besides making them laugh ofc), and making comics so I can tell in images what I can’t fully express in words ◡‿◡
Þ = Favorite film.
YOU OF ALL PEOPLE ASKING THIS QUESTION NESSI… you can’t just ask someone their favorite movie that’s like asking my favorite book omg.
Here are some top ones I’ll force on people I like: Mean Girls (as you’ve experienced first hand…), Marie Antoinette, The Lost Boys, Suckerpunch (!!!), Beetlejuice, Now & Then, Inglorious Basterds, Jennifer’s Body, Zombieland, Ghost World, Breakfast Club, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, The Addams Family movies. Also most of the disney movies… I know quotations and songs by heart. Donnie Darko used to be my favorite movie when I was 15, and recently I really enjoyed Mystic Pizza.
